    Default HD Trailering 2008 Suburban

I have a 2008 Suburban 1500, 3.73 axle ratio, 5.3 liter engine, 4 speed trany. I have the Z82 HD trailering equipment option, but I can not find anything that tells me if the oil coolers are included in this option, the only thing they talk about is the 7 pin connector. According to everything, it appears I can only tow a max of 7000 lbs. So I am looking for any possible way to increase that limit.

What I can not seem to find out is if I have an external engine oil cooler and an external transmission oil cooler? ? And if I dont, would it help to put them on??

I can find out for you if you send me your VIN#. I work at a dealership and can pull the build for you and it will say exactly what parts were used to build your truck. You can PM me or reply to the post with it and I can send you the info.

For a half-ton truck, 7000 pounds would about be your limit weight-wise for you. I would guess that there's probably a heavy-duty transmission cooler, but an oil cooler? perhaps. Take a look at your radiator. If you have any smaller radiators in front of the big main one, that could be an oil cooler. Another place to look would be at the actual main radiator. If in addition to the big hoses for coolant, if you see one set of metal lines going in, that's your transmission cooler. If you see 2 sets of metal lines going into your radiator, you should have an oil cooler too.

I looked up a couple of other 08 Suburbans and the Z82 Package, from the best I can tell, only includes the actual hitch and harness and doesn't include any oil/tranny coolers. I also pulled my 03 Z71 up and it show to have the Z82 - HEAVY DUTY TRAILERING EQUIPMENT however, in addition to that it shows: PDZ - TRAILERING PACKAGE INCLUDES: * TRAILERING EQUIPMENT * TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER you may want to see if yours has any additional packages.

Thanks, I already have the build list and the only item that refers to HD trailering is the Z82 code. However, there is another one called VR4 'weight distribution platform hitch', do you know what that is?
