hard 1-2 shift in 4x4LOW, normal?
i was test driving a 98 silverado yesterday. when i shifted into 4X4 low it was shifting very hard from 1st to 2nd. is this normal?

Just about every 4x4 (with auto trans) has felt that way to me. I think it is the effect of the gear reduction (2.x:1) and that it usually occurs at such a low speed that does it. You might want to get in the habit of starting out in 2 when in 4L, so it doesn't start in 1.
Is this your first 4x4? When you say the shift is harsh in 4L, is that compared to other 4x4's in 4L, or just compared to high range?'98 K1500 Suburban LS 5.7 L 4L60E NV246 ARB

yeah, itll be my first 4X4. so yes, i am only compairing it to how it shifted in 4hi.
