Hey there all, I'm new here to the site and I'M experiencing a problem with my 1999 Burban k1500 5.7L. Last weekend I installed a set of headers all went well with the install with the exception of the air tube off of the header did not want to cooperate once I finally got it back on and started her up I noticed a vibrating almost grinding sound from under the hood almost sounds as if its up by the alternator I thought it was a bad baring on the belt tensioner or the idler pulling so I replaced both not it the sound seams to quit down at about 40 mph but does not go away also I notice a vibration from under the floor I have double checked every nut, bolt and the area I worked in. Any thoughts or help would be great Thanks
Note: I am still running stock pipe, cats, and muffler I plan to replace once I pinpoint the noise

Last month I had a similar sound that started out intermittent, and it seemed to go away at higher revs. Then over two weeks it started getting louder and the noise started to get worse at higher revs. I poked around under the hood and since I had replaced the alternator recently I looked at elsewhere. There was a small amount of play in the fan so I wasn't sure if it might be water pump or the fan clutch. Took the fan clutch out and it was toast. A quick trip to the parts store and a new FC cured my woes.
Not sure if that's whats ailing your burb, but its worth a look.

Did you figure out the dliemma? Other then that how was the header install? Did you go shorty or long tube? What kind and did you get any gains with them?
