I'm driving 07 Z71 LT 5.3L ext. cab. looking for some recommendations for air intake (i was leaning towards K&N metal series) and exhaust ( considering magnaflow dual cat-back) upgrades. if i do go through with this, there is no other modifications that i have to make right?
thanks
I suggest AirAid over K&N, I've owned both, but i see a larger increase in Fuel Economy and around the same performance out of the AirAid, aside from the K&N, my truck may not be the same model as yours, but just basing it on my experience. I also recommend you get a plastic tube, yes, the metal ones looks better, but you'll be after more power, and with the plastic tube, it doesn't transfer heat to the air you're sucking in, as much as the metal tubes do. So that's the reason you have a "cold air" intake. To get in cool air, and with a metal tube you're not doing much of your truck a favor, except give it less resistance when breathing. Also, with the cold air intake, it makes the exhaust louder, and deeper, so i would recommend getting an exhaust, just for the fact that, your truck is sucking in more air, it has to push more out, and you might as well make it easy for it.

Ive had K&N, Airaid,AFE and Gale Banks for gas motors and I like the Banks the best because of the quality, looks and performance.
I just installed the Banks Intake on my 06 silv. I like it, seems that I can slide in and out of traffic with less throttle tip. Idle and normal throttle tip are just as quiet as stock, but WOT sounds like a wild animal...woohoo.

Definately do not put the metal intake on, I listened to everyone when I bought my chrome K&N intake and I have regretted it from day one. The engine runs a lot hotter, you can fry an egg on that intake after it's running for about 5 minutes. Get the plastic tube and you won't regret it trust me, been there done that.

Hi I am really confused, im hearing 50/50 but does a throttle body spacer really increase any HP?
I own a AirAid PowerAid throttle body spacer, I noticed an increase in low end torque, and gas mileage increase from my engine not needing put put as much power to get going. If you have a cold air intake, and dual exhaust, like myself, you might notice a larger increase, like i did.

Your not really going to be able to do much to get better fuel milage out of it.I am not sure which 2007 you have but if its the NBS it has a factory CAI. If your wanting a CAI for the sound or the look then get it. If you want it for milage or real performance you are waisting your money.

I would stay away from any metal intakes. They act as a heat sink, absorb engine compartment heat.
