Hey guys i'm on the backside of my intake manifold gasket repair. Along the way I discoverd a broken distributor so I went and bought a new one and compared them and transferred my marks that noted the location of the rotor and so on. This reman distributor I'm not getting to seat all the way on the gear in the exact location that i had the old one marked at. Is there any reason why i wouldnt be able do re-install this reman distributor in the identical manner that I pulled the old one? Please help I'm trying to get as much possible done tonight as I need my truck back running ASAP. thanks guys.

When it won't go back in the way you expected.....move on to the next step: Installation from scratch.

I know this may come across as a silly question but couldnt I take a long flathead screwdriver and use it to turn the oil pump drive to where I would want it? Or is that a no no? Just thought I would as bcuz this is new to me. Thanks

Alot of times the oil pump drive gear will move when you pull the distributor out. Its not much but its enough to piss you off. Just take a long screwdriver in there and turn the drive gear to desired fitment. Hope this helps.
Sure enough did, when i was working with it at 12:30 last night i had given up considering i had to be at work in 5,1/2 hours and was messin with it for 2hours. Just got home and i have a small pry bar with a 5/8" head and that did the trick to get the oil pump lined up thanks bud you're a life saver.
