On my '00 silverado, I have installed two Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers in a cat-back true dual exhaust setup. It sounds great, but not -quite- as loud as i want it to be. I understand getting a good pair of headers will bump my sound up moderately. The problem is, should I get shorty headers or full-length?
key thing, i have plenty of power. im looking for SOUND.
a lot of other forums say to go full-length because shortys are just for ground-clearance issues. is this true? how would i know if full length would fit in mine? it sounds like there would be some modification involved and not just bolt-on and go...anyone have any experience with this?
thanks
*edit* does backpressure come into play at this point?

Ive had both and the headers didnt make it any louder, but the high flow Magnaflow cats did. I installed my cat back exhaust first and it was louder, than the headers and I really couldnt hear that much differance but when I installed the high flow cats it was louder but not obnoxiously louder. The long tube headers do require some exhaust mods but the shorties bolt right on. You can find Magnaflow high flow cats for under $90.00 each. You might want to try the cats first and if you add headers later the cats will compliement the headers.
STB, thanks for the reply. that sounds like some good advice, and for the cats being that cheap i will definitely do that first. thanks for the great tip!!
