Default Thinking about buying this Suburban, I have a question

Hey guys, i think i might be buying a1997 Chevy Suburban with 181k miles 5.7 next week if the guy still has it. He has replaced the fuel pump and the fuel filter, and it wont still stay running. Do you think it can be a alternator?

It sounds like a problem in the fuel system. It might be something in the TBI. I doubt the Alternator has anything to do with it.

If it where the alternator I would think the battery would be dead and it wouldn't turn over. My experience with a failing or failed alternator is that if the battery had enough power to start the engine it would stay running for a little while.

I would 2nd checking fuel delivery. Best first place to start would probably be to put a fuel pressure gauge on it.

I might also put a scanner on it and see if there are any trouble codes that might help.
