Default Things are heating up about GM in Oshawa

Thousands of CAW members and retirees rallied at Queen's Park to call for government pension guarantees in the event that General Motors falters. Stefanie Swinson was on the scene..

If something does happen with the retirees I will feel sorry for them, you spend your whole life tearing your body up for a decent living and then you retire. And then they want to come and take it all away from you, that just isn't right no matter who you work for. I had relatives that had 28 years with LTV steel, and when they went under everyone lost everything they had worked in the foundry for.

Quick question: I always thought CAW was seperate from the UAW, even though they are still GM. Is this true, and where would CAW stand if GM goes bankrupt? I always wondered about that.

They seperated from UAW in 1985. CAW does way more than just Auto workers too.
CAW would survive a GM bankruptcy.
