Default Speakers dead & dying -2002 Suburban

I have a 2002 K1500 Suburban. The speakers are dying or dead -the driver's speaker works about 80% of the time, the woofer in the front passenger's speaker works only 20% of the time (tweeter is good...) and the speaker in the driver's rear door is also dead. I haven't checked the ones in the rear pillars but I think they're good. The sub is good as well. I am told they are a common point of failure so I would think it's not something to do with the radio itself but I don't know. Since they are two-way speakers, where do I get replacements? Are there decently priced speakers made to fit in these trucks that actually fill the holes? I hate the way fab'd in aftermarkets look and don't want to go that route. If it is the head unit, are these just double-din units, and if so, how is the sub hooked up?

6.5 speakers fit perfect, you wouldnt know the difference when you look at the door but as for the factory subwoofer you may want to start testing the speakers individually to see if it the speakers or head unit, most likely the speakers or wires IMO.

I used to have a set of MB Quart speakers in the front of my previous SUV. I picked them up on discount for like $60 from SoundDomain.com, when they used to sell car audio stuff. I must say those speaker did pretty well for a relatively inexpensive set that were running straight of the head unit.

More then likely it's just the speaker that's blown. My guess is, since you have a sub, you also have the Bose sound system so then you have a built-in amp. Unless that amp has blown out a channel or two it just the speaker that have given way.

I would start with picking up a decent set of speaker, since they're the fronts and sound imaging laws say you will be hearing most of the sound from them, you will notice a difference in quality.

    Good luck!

It's not a Delco/Bose AFAIK, it doesn't say Delco/Bose anywhere. I sure hope it's not; I have one in my Corvette and they are a nightmare! What about the tweeters, though, can I get replacements for them, or what?

Not sure what you can get from the factory but all GM uses is delco radio unless its says bose or monsoon (for the most part pontiac) on it, most likely just start saving your pennies for a whole new stereo i find it easier to just ditch the factory and buy aftermarket, its way cheaper then getting replacement form GM
