Today I took my truck up to NTB to have the oil changed, and the truck tires balanced aligned and rotated while I was there. When they went to balance the tires they said they couldn't get two of them to balance, so I went back there and gave them permission to take the tires off the rims to get a better look. Sure enough I have a front passenger side rim that is bent pretty bad, and then they also found that the drivers side rear rim is also bent up pretty good. The other two rims are perfectly fine, so I had them remount the tires on the rims and I headed back to the Chevy dealer to have them check it. Same thing 2 bent rims, and the crappy thing is If my regency warranty would have still been in place they would have replaced them for free!
Both places told me that it was from hitting pot holes, but I think the guy is full of s&@$ I have a set of stock cragars on my S-10 wrapped in Michelin stock sized tires, and I have hit some huge holes in that truck and never bent a wheel. Same thing in my old Silverado, I have never had this kind of problem before. I don't understand how you can have that big of a tire (35"), and manage to bend a rim with all of that sidewall around it. I am thinking that there was some kind of manufacturer flaw with the wheels, what do you guys think about this situation? I don't go off-road at all, and the truck is 4 years old with 9,600 miles!
Weld Racing actually went out of business also, and I checked and Summit Racing had four left of what I have same size and everything for $575 each! Before I go spend $1,100 on two wheels, I am going to look around for a set of 17" wheels and just replace all of them. Here's a pic of what bent, pieces of s@*^

Is it an aluminum alloy, or steel alloy, or something else?
I'd say you'd have to hit something just right to bend them with all that rubber around them. Not impossible but certainly unlikely.

I've got a set of American Racing Hopsters, 15x7. I've had a stock sized tire on them since new, which is a 235. I just put 4 brand new tires on, and all but one of my rims was bent slightly. They are only a quarter of an ounce out of balance, so I did not worry about too much. The next time I buy rims, I'm definitely going with steel rims.
Wow i have never heard heard of a rim the bends like butter with just pot holes??? Thats ridiculous I go off roading all the time and I never had a problem with any of my rims. I would put the rims for sale and use that money to get new ones.

That's a bummer Amy! After I bought my truck I found it had a bent of defective wheel on it and was able to get a free replacement through the tire store chain that the deal bought my wheels from because they were within the warranty mileage. What's the Regency member on here say about defective wheels?

My friend crashed his ford a few months ago, bought two brand new 18" m/t Classic II. Both were bent when he got em. He just said F-it and put em on there so he could drive it again, but you can clearly see they aren't right.

He Amy, we were a Weld dealer and we saw this alot with Welds. They used to have a wheel repair service. I think American Racing bought them out so maybe they can help you with repaoring them or turn you on to someone that does. When Weld was repairing the wheels it was very resonable.
