Hey guys my e brake cable snapped today and i was wondering what should i do and is it alright to drive it like this i pretty sure its not in play when im not using it. i was able to pop it back up and the brake light went off. Any clue how long of a wheel base i have? its a 02 extended cab z71. where can i get this part autozone and advanced auto dont carry it or atleast not around me lol. thanks for any help if i left something out sorry let me know
I feel more comfortable knowing that my emergency brake is working (it might even be a legal requirement in some states?). Although I have never had to use them in an emergency, it’s nice to know they are available. I had a problem with e-brake pads last year (spring clip that keeps them deactivated came loose they were dangling!) and drove to a local repair shop and had them repair it. I guess I took the easy but more costly route to resolve the problem!
Sorry that I can’t help you with your DIY project, good luck.

thanks was it expensive for a shop to fix?? it seems simple but ill see the cable itself is fairly cheap lol thanks for the reply
It was around $75, mostly labor because the part to replace was cheap. You have a different issue with the cable though so your $$ will likely not be the same.
I'm sure you'll get some great advice around here.
