Just bought a 2000 k3500 454/4L80E truck and no reverse, previous owner said they got the truck stuck in a snow bank and reverse quit working, no SES light on. any ideas?
You probably have a broken reverse band. An easy way to tell is to pull the shifter down into manual low at 20 MPH and see if you have engine braking. If the band is broken the truck will freewheel and have no engine breaking.

your reverse band is also the same band that works with 2nd and 3rd gear if I remember right.... so if you aren't shifting from 2nd to 3rd then you are correct.
