    I have a 2000 silverado with a 5.3 and get only 13 mpg and was wandering if a CAI would help on the gas mileage any?

    A CAI will help some,Next will be a Catback Exhaust,if you have not done that yet.And between both you should see some improvement.

    give us some more details on the truck, engine size, any other mods be it cosmetic or performance, are you keeping up with routine maintenance, etc
    2000 silverado with a 5.3l v8, shorty headers, upgraded plugs, 10 mil wires, magnaflow high flow cats, flowmaster 80 series muffler(2 in 2 out) w/ 18 inch stainless silverline tips. i have a k&n CIA. its a 4x4 z71 offroad package. Ls model.
    extended cab 160k miles, truxedo low profile bed cover, diablo sport predator tuner.
    reman tranny @ 130k miles

    Agree...need to know what you are running for better advice.

    Well, I have an 05 with 9" of lift and 35" tires and I get 13 MPG in the city and about 18 on the highway. My mods are listed below. I think I saw the most increase with the CAI and the Programmer.

    you see my list, and i was only getting 15 until i put a diablo programmer, and with a little help from a member on here, i fine tuned it, adjusted everything i could on there, and now am starting to see improvements. i havent had time to check more than one tanks worth, but i saw a 1 mile increase so far.
