    Default High Oil Pressure

Hey guys i am problems with my 2003 Chev. Silv. My oil pressure has jump all the way up (80) and will not come down. What do you think it is, or what should i start checking first. The gauge will go down when truck shuts off so i dont think it is stuck and also There is also no over heating and i do not seem to be low on oil. Thanks for all your help

If your gauge is stuck on high all the time you might try taking it to someone who has a GM or Tech II style scanner as they can cycle the gauges and this might un-stick the gauge.

the other tip is a good idea. if that doesn't help you might also get a can of seafoam and put half of it in the oil and the other half in your gas tank. what goes in your gas tank won't help the oil guage, it'll just clean your fuel system but the temperature sensor might be either electronically stuck (which is why the code tester might help) or mechanically stuck or clogged up in which case the sea foam will help clear out the gunk and open the sensor back up so it will work properly again.

cool glad it was something simple though, could have wound up being a costly repair if you think about it, good thing it was just the wire. much easier and cheaper to repair that way.
