    Default impossible front u-joints

I removed my front driveshaft to replace the u-joints. only problem is they won't press out of the yoke. I even snapped an arbor press in half trying o get them out. You guys got any ideas for me to try before i bring it to a shop to have it done?

Have you tried putting some heat to the yoke?

It's pretty tough to do without some heat. They inject plastic in the groove at the factory to hold it in place, so the first time you replace one, you have to heat it to soften the plastic so you can push it out.

    .
You might think about buying a cheap propane torch. The plastic will melt with just a plumbers torch

Another tip, there is ALOT of plastic in there, more then you think would come out. You need to get that plastic so hot that it is on fire so it will expand and come out. I just ran my driveshaft down to my mechanic and he did it for free for me. Good luck!

Got a hold of my cousin who works at an autobody shop. He said bring it by. Heated it up real good and they came out pretty easy. Then on the install a needle bearing fell behind the cross and that was that. Ran back to the parts store and bought another U-joint. So $90 and 2 days of aggrivation. I twas still better than paying someone else to do it. Thanks for the info on the plastic.
