well my truck is an 83 chevy the motor was out of an 87 gmc 5.0L switched motor engine harness fuse block and harness under the dash, switched the instrument cluster last night so i would have the sevrice engine light. the only two things that are not switched from the gmc to the chevy is the fuel pump and the steering wheel. now here is the problem im having with this swap. my injectors arent pulsing. i can dump gas in the throttle body and it will fire right up. so i have my spark side. i got some real good wiring diagrams and flow charts off a website. and found out i have no battery+ to my computer none of the wires are hot. the steering colum from the gmc had two more wires than mine so i dont know if thats a problem or my fuel pump or comp. and i put in an inline fuel pump so you know. thanks

Ok the wires in the steering column out of the GMC could be your ignition signal hot for the computer. But you may want to check the pressure out of the fuel pump because a lot of aftermarket pumps say they pump so much but dont. Correct me if i', wrong but the 83 had a mechanical pump right?

Yea it was a mechanical pump because carburator. i had another person suggest the steering column. and yea it a pump for NAPA and actually is rated at 7-9 lbs. and the TBI is 9-13 lbs. i just recently figured that yea it could be a problem but my computer problem i know is the bigger issue. and i know your not suppose to push alot more pressure than the max lbs.

found the problem long ago just thought id post the result. there was a wire that didn't get put on during the swap goes from the battery + to the alternator that's also the main feed to the whole system. there for my comp never had power. soon as moneys a little better its time for the TPI Swap its all powder coated and polished and look sharp.

the worst problems are man made problems
