I just got a great deal on a 2009 Silverado and wanted to share my experience in case you are considering a new Chevy. Obviously there are a lot of great incentives out there right now. I got 4500 Cash back right off the bat. This deal I think was issued from high up in GM recently ended, but rest assured more will come real soon.
ALSO, instead of just walking onto a lot and getting snatched up by a salesman, search a dealers inventory online and then shoot them an email. We did this and they gave us another 3000 off MSRP since it was classified an internet sale. Would they have taken this 3,000 off anyway if we had just walked onto the lot?? Probably if we would have pushed for it, but it is so nice to walk into the salesman's office with 7500 off MSRP without any negotiating.
If you have a trade in make sure you bring a copy of your Kelly Blue Book trade in value estimate. With this visually in front of them it will put pressure on them to give you full value. You can get a lot of the fees taken off like destination charges which are a lot higher now than they were a few years ago!!! If you press for it they may even take a little off to cover for registration, tags, etc.
If you personally know a salesman talk to one before. My brothers father in law has been selling vehicles for 30+ years and he gave me plenty of advice. They may not want to give too many more discounts if they are already offering great incentives, but its worth a shot.
Just wanted to give a little advice...But definitely shoot an email first to dealership before walking onto the lot. I don't know if that is a Chevy wide policy or if was just our dealership being nice, but either way it got us $3,000 more off.
