Help.
I have a 209,700 mile Suburban-2wd 1998-runs great gets good hy mpg-20-21. In other words, I want to keep it until I find a better Suburban;we do long road trips and once you travel in a Suburban, nothing else will do.We sleep in it at rest stops(2 adults leggy greyhound), so huge is good.
I have several leaks. One clear iol leak at the timing cover-no big deal.I think the oil pan gasket is also leaking-once again,so wht-I lose/use 1 quart per 2500 miles-never manages to drip to the ground-too slow.
The main problem is a coolant leak-I lost about 2 quarts in 1000 or so miles.Once again,I don't really find significant coolant on the ground. I took a good look yesterday, and on the drivers side of the motor-kinda underneath a coolant hose that seems to go from the water pump to the drivers side exhaust manifold-I found-actually felt- a puddle of coolant in a recess flat area under/behind the valve cover.
Of course,I can't see this hose leak, and it is covered with woven plastic "armor". Maybe it is the hose,
BUT-will an intake manifold gasket leak pool there??
From the PO receipts the intake manifold gasket was changed in 2005 50,000 miles ago.
Any ideas?
PS I took a better look/feel.It is pooling on top of the bellhousing just behind the motor. The actual coolant hose to the exhaust manifold looks ok. I wonder where an intake manifold gasket leak would pool? If the coolant was leaking to the outside-would it leak pool on top of the transmission bell housing??
Thanks,
Charlie
