There are going to be a very large number of dealerships closed down or otherwise losing the ability to sell GM and/or Chevy products. Has or will this affect anyone on this site and where do you live and what was the dealer?

My wife is sold on Vandergriff Chevrolet in Arlington she wont take her HHR anywhere else for service or repairs, she wont even let me change the oil like I do on all our other vehicles. Unfortunately with probably 15 or more GM dealerships within 20 miles I think they may be closing their doors.
I noticed the GM dealer (Pontiac/GMC) in North Hills Texas closed their doors a few weeks ago and in some of the small Texas towns I travel through I've seen a few dealers having closing sales way before this anouncement from GM. I dont know if the dealers already in trouble are included in GM's closing numbers or not.

About 25 miles from my house there is a Bigelow Chevy dealer that has been open for 98 years, they were told to close there doors with the announcement. They are seeking a way to stay open, but it doesn't look good for them. They are a huge dealer in Ohio, 80% of there business comes from GM workers so I don't know where people are going to go now. The next nearest dealer is 40 miles from Bigelow, I am waiting for my dealership to go under next that would be my luck!
The Rick Hendrick stores are likely safe. Very heavy volume dealers. Some of the others are independent. Will likely be gone. My take is that you will see Chevys and Buicks being sold at Honda and Toyota and BMW and KIA dealerships. Hendrick just combined a Chevy and Cadillac to make 1 dealership. GM will cut back on some models and combine franchises together. Buick will sell 2 models and Cadillac 2 models. Chevy will sell Suv's and truck's, Camero and Corvette. GMC will merge with Chevy trucks. Sell only 1 type of truck like Ford and Dodge.

I talked to a sales manager from Lewis River Motors in Woodland, WA and they were sent the letter to close which goes into effect by October 2010 so they have a year and a half. Curt Warner Chevrolet in Vancouver, WA is my dealer of choice for all the service on my truck and they did not receive the letter.
Lewis River has been in business since 1938 and many customers are signing petitions for it to remain open.

Luckilly for me the dealer where I bought this truck is still there. Same for the dealers where two of my friends work.
One GM dealer between two that are both with in 3 miles of my house has closed. I hope everyone who lost their jobs can find something to help them out.

I think GMC Dealer that is about like 12-15 miles away from my house should stay open considering they recently bougth out the other GMC Dealer in the County.
As for the Chevy Dealer Im not sure how long their going to manage to stay open. One of them already closed down near the end of last year. And the 2 left are no more then 5 Miles apart. One of them has a local credit account at the gas station I work at, and they always come in saying how business is just terrible and alot of people are losing their jobs.
