Hi All,
We've got a 2003 Yukon XL (Suburban, with the GMC nameplate). On the info sheet we got from the dealer it says "Z82 - HEAVY DUTY TRAILERING EQUIP" and "VR4 - WEIGHT DIST HITCH PLATFORM". I'm wondering what exactly that means for the 2003 model year. Do we have a Class IV rather than a Class IV hitch? Is there extra cooling to towing heavier loads? Something else?
I've searched on this and haven't been able to come up with anything.
Thanks for any input!
-Josh

Others may add to this but my 2001 Suburban has the same option and it usually consists of trailering hitch platform, 7-lead wiring connector & external transmission oil cooler,Trailering wiring harness, 7-wire.

Would it mean a Class IV rather than a Class III hitch? How do I figure out what class of hitch I have?

Everything that Dwill says agreed on, your hitch should be a class IV but just look on the reciever itself it is stamped on it

Our 08 Silverado has that pkg, but,it does not have the Intergrated Brake Controller...I have one I'd like to install, but don't know where the wires under the dash are..Could anybody help Me please..
Hmm, I looked and couldn't find anything stamped on the receiver. It seems to be covered in a black laquer of some kind, so if something was stamped on the metal, I don't think you'd be able to see it.
There is a chart above the 7-round plug that lists weight limits; but there are two pairs of weight limits and it doesn't say which applies. It has the following:
Weight carrying: 5000lbs trailer, 600lbs tongue weight.
Weight distributing: 13,500 trailering, 1000lbs tongue weight.
So, do I have the weight carrying or the weight distributing hitch? Based on what I found on the info sheet I *think* it's the weight distributing hitch...

just google your weight info

It depends on your towing equipment. If you just insert the hitch into the receiver and hook up a trailer to the ball you have the weight carrying hitch. If you have the additional weight distributing hitch and bars you have the weight distributing type.
Most likely you have weight carrying.
Here is my weight distributing set up. It has the cam type sway control too.
those bars that go from the trailer to the receiver are the weight distribution bars.

If I didn't have a Suburban I couldn't pull the toy box and haul my family to use the toys.
If it's not weight distributing, you think it's not a class IV? Probably a class III?

VR4-means you have a factory installed hitch/reciever
Z82-is the trailering group package, its for heavy duty so it a class IV reciever
