Ok so im either getting the 12" or 10" cerwin vegas 1200 watt but i was woundering what would be better 4 ohms or 2 ohms and what kind of amp should be running with it

Check out the power acoustik amps. My friend just bought 2 of them and they seem to work great. I dont know much about the 2ohm or 4ohm thing, but I would say it probaly depends on the amp. The amp I have does 1500 watts rms driven into 4ohms and 2500 watts rms driven into 2ohms.

The 4 ohm in my opinion are better for those who are not really in the know. Best for you to run with a 4 ohm sub. Now all you need is a 2 channel amp to push them. You could buy a Mono amp and run the one channel to both woofers if you want to.

It also sound like you will be buying a 600 rms watt Cerwin Vega speaker
An Amp to push 2 of them will probably need to have at least 700 watts rms per channel. Thats so you don't blow the subs. Gives you a little breathing room and will also sound clear and undistorted.

Now this gets a lil complicated.

You can buy two 2 ohm subs and get an amp that will be able to push 2 ohms. It will be louder than the 4 ohm subs but you must make sure that both are 2 ohm. If they aren't, problems can occur.

The subs are 1200 watts each im pushing 2400 watts or will be soon as i get them installed

Just make sure your amp(s) don't put out too much powr or your subs to handle. And no matter what you do, make sue your ohm load is equal for the subs and amp(s). I personally run all three of my subs and both of my amps at 2ohms.

Yeah, but is that RMS watts Or total watts per speaker. As a speaker enthusiast, I'm only interested in RMS. The total wattage is usually B.S. because most never get that anyway!

The spearks are 600 watts rms and the 1200 watts only come in 2ohm if i want for ohm i will have to get 1000 watt and the rms is 500

Just make sure your amp and headunit can handle 2 ohm's, otherwise you will fry them due to too much resistance.

its all in the wiring. in my basic understanding two 2 ohm subs in series = 4 ohms and in parallel = 1 ohm. same for the 4 ohm, either 8 or 2 ohms. most amps like between 2-4 ohms so if you want the 2 ohm subs, wire in series; if you want the 4 ohm subs, wire parallel. i have two 4 ohm subs in parallel to a 250 watt amp and it works awesome. if im mistaken, maybe one of the stereo gurus on here can help me and burden out

go with the 4 ohm subs, when you wire them in parallel it takes them down to 2 ohms and when you get your amp make sure the amp is 1ohm stable. when the amp is on and your subs are at 2 ohms your amp runs them at 1 ohm,it reads the ohms in half. get you a class D mono amp please dont go cheap. Orion makes good amps and US amps are good mono amps or Rockford. Yo truck will need a new windshield after a week.
