After refueling my 2001 silverado 1500 extended cab I get a low fuel warning message that will stayon until I get about 30-50 miles from the gas pump and then it will be ok until I get under 1/4 tank then the low fuel warning will come back on. I have tried fuel injector cleaner with hope that it would clean and fix my fuel quanity transmitter, but that only worked for about a month. So I guess I will have to replace my pump/transmitter tower in the tank but Chevy wants 500 bucks and Oreiley wants 320 bucks. Does anyone know a better way of if there was a recall on this problem. I have found out that this has been a problem since the late 90's.
You can replace the fuel level sensor by itself without replacing the whole fuel pump module. Not sure if aftermarket sells it that way but we get them from GM parts that way. It has been redesigned as well.
