Hello... Chris Cobb here from San Jose CA
Changed the transmission fluid today on my '95 Sub. Could not get the new filter seal all the way into the pump bore. Left about 1/8" out. Does anyone know if this will be a potentail problem. Instructions say it MUST be in all the way.
Thanks
Chris Cobb
HeyChris, you should definately try and get that filter all the way in. Sometimes twisting it while you push will help. If it's not all the way in, then it's not seated, and can eventually vibrate loose. The filter has two functions. obviously it filters, but it also acts as part of a sump. if the filter is not in the tranny will not be able to pump fluid properly, and in addition could suck large particles(should they exist) into the tranny's finely precision tuned components. That could be Ugly!!!

Hey Chris, just wondering if you've had any more problems with your filter seal.
