    Default 8 Lug Conversion

I'm wanting to do a 6 to 8 lug conversion on my 04 Sierra 1500. What would be the best way to go about that. I also want to add a 6in suspension lift and 37's so I know I need to switch over to the 4:56 Yukon gears, or if there would be a better way of going about it.

i briefly looked up and could not find any conversions but i would imagine sumbody makes em. and 37s with a 6 inch lift would be close i no a few people who have ran that setup. i would say just a 35. if u chose a 35 u aint gota re gear the rear end, i ran 35s with a 3 inch body lift on my 01 and it still ran like a champ and i had stock 3.73 gears
I own a 2007 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab (new body style). my truck is Red and has the 4.8, basically stock but i got big plans.

i beleive you can get new axle shafts that will make it 8 lug, but they are not cheap. it is not really necessary to go to 8 lug IMO. I would spend your money on the lift, 4.56 gears, and 35's or 36's

I hope this doesn't come across as condescending, but why would you want to convert to 8lug?

Do you realize the the 8 lug components are larger and heavier than the 6 lug?

You don't have a signature so I'm not sure if your truck is 4x2 or 4x4. If it's 4x4 you'd have to replace the CV shafts since the shafts are not the same for the 6lug as the 8lug. You'd pretty much have to change the entire front end, since the bearing hub is also a different size.

I'm not trying to talk you out of it, just want you to be aware.

How about a solid axle kit instead.

    Cool 8lug conversion

The 8lug ,3/4 ton axles wont fit a 6lug, 1/2 ton front differential. We looked at doing one in our shop on my personal truck and it just is so much fab. and labor. Better off with straight axle conversion. I ended up with 6inch Skyjacker with 3/4 torsen bars on front and Skyjacker rear springs with a add-a-leaf for a total of 7.5inches.
