I just won an aution on ebay where I bought a set of 4.10 gears for my 2005 1500 4x4. The description said they were from a 2006 1500 4x4, but described the front diff. as a 10.25" instead of the 8.25" that I believe is in the 06' 1500's. Do you think the guy was just confused or am I wrong in thinking the 06 had the 8.25? I already bought it so there is not much I can do about it, but I got the pair (30,000 Miles) for $150, which I thought was a steal. Thoughts?

The NBS 1500s have the GM 8.25 IFS. That includes 2006. I just had my gears replaced so I know that you have the 8.25 AND the guy was probably mistake if it was indeed from a 1500.

1500's had the 8.25 IFS, so I'd say he was either confused about the diff, or he was confused about the 1500 part.

He could have jumbled up the 10 bolt rear and the 8.25 making it into the all elusive 10.25 IFS...LOL

Thanks for the replys. I was pretty sure I was right. The 4.10's should really help my 4.8 out quite a bit. Now I've got to find a good locker, my truck has no G80.

yeah man its an 8 and a quarter I.F.S. for sure and for the rear a 8.5 or an 8.6 ring and pinion set but make sure that you get the 8.6 install kit because an 8.5 install kit wont work.

for a good locker, i would recommend the ECTED diff. by Auburn Gear. I don't have any experience with it, but am thinking of getting one. Once it is installed, it is full-time limited slip, and then you just flip a switch (while driving at any speed) and it sets it into fully locked mode. I don't know about price though. hope this helps.

If he miss-represented the gears you may want to contest it through PayPal. Also I know it's a little late but I hope you are buying new gears and not used ones. Never, never buy a used ring and pinion. It will cause nothing but grief and it will always be noisy.
