Default Pro's and Con's of programers???

So i have heard both good an bad to programmers for my truck. Some say you can do great things to increase hourse power and fuel economy. Other post say you dont gain that much out of either and they are not worth it.

So does anybody know the truth?
Is there anything i can read to due some research?
What brands of tuners are made for a 2006 Silverado Z71, gas not diesel?
Anything else you want to add be my guest.
    Thanks for the help...

the best programer in my opinion is the diablo sport predator. its about 370 bucks from autoanything.com with free shiping and you can use the preset tunes or make your own, also it can disable torque managment

I won't go brand biased here, but I will say that when I buy a handheld I prefer the live monitoring type. Hypertech Hyperpac, Diablosport Trinity, Bully Dog GT Tuner, etc. etc. These not only program stuff, but they are full of a ton of other options that are useful in other ways. They range from $499 all the way up to $1,199, but trust me they are worth every penny.

I'd just avoid them all together, spend your money on parts, dyno time, and a reputable tuner. In the long run - this saves your driveline and engine internals. Do your homework.

Cool Pro and con of programmers

I like the Diablo Preditor because not only can you install one of there standard tunes and fine tune there tunes the newer models can hold up to five custom tunes. Shop around your local and mail order diablo dealer for you best price if you want the custom tunes. I run the 87octane tune that I fine tuned myself (takes time to expariment with) and picked up 2mpgs on the highway and can light up my 35inch tires.
