This is my first new thread besides my introduction.
I was redoing my 7 pin trailer hookup today. The pins were all corroded.
She drank the last Diet Coke, and we didn't have any vinegar. And I was definitely not going to use my last half of a Moxie. So I looked around under the sink and found the BKF. I mixed a pretty strong solution in a plastic cup, and went at it with a toothbrush. Almost immediately I had nice shiny contacts. I rinsed it well, and sprayed with Fluid Film.
Saved a $30 plug.

For those that don't know, BKF (Bar Keepers Friend) is a stainless steel cleaner that can be found in most store's kitchen cleaner isle. It is normally used to clean stainless steel and shiny metal sinks, fridges, pots and pans, etc. Safe to handle.

My dad has a can of that out in his garage, and I always wondered what I could clean with it. Thanks for the tip, I will keep that in mind when my line of fire plug turns green!![]()
If you're not familiar with BKF, here's their website.

It should be in the household chemicals aisle.
Here are some pics I took. This is the after pic of the trailer plug. It was pretty nasty when I started. The shiny spots are not that obvious to the naked eye. I think it's the Fluid Film. FF is great stuff. http://www.fluid-film.com/
Here's the plug that runs my electric sander

I cleaned some tools up tonight with the Bar Keepers Friend. Does a good job on surface rust on tools, like if you leave them out in the rain.
I give them a good wipe down with Fluid Film when I'm done.
