    Default Windshiel Wipers

    guys,
the wipers on my 1990 k-1500 are driving me crazy.
about half the time i go to turn them on, even on delay, they turn on and stay on, with me either having to keep switching them on and off, or sometimes having to shut the ignition keey off, to get them to stop.
what also is crazy, is when it is ijn this mode, the washer spray wont work.

so, my question is, is there a realy or something that can be replaced to fix this problem ?
or is there something going on inside of my wiper, turn signal switch /

    thanks.

here is what i found guys..

There is a "wiper motor pulse board module" attached to the wiper motor that performs these functions. It is probably bad. There was a similar but more primitive device attached to the wiper motors on the old-style Chevys ('87 and earlier) and they went bad all the time. Any parts store should be able to supply the module for cheap, and installing it is a self-explanatory snap.

Leonard, I don't know for your application at all but I know for years a little later than yours there is the wiper circuit board that is prone to going bad. I just replaced mine about a month ago and things work great. The only thing that puzzles me is that the washer fluid doesn't work. I wasn't aware if that was part of the circuit board or not.

Mine was on the fire wall, more on the driver's side, near the top.

I'll see if I took a picture of it and post it.

I believe you problem is in the delay circuit board inside the wiper motor housing. My wipers have some similar problems, I just haven't gotten around to fixing it.

Nope, no photo of it... but it's easy to find and very easy to replace.

I would say it is the wiper control delay module. Which if you take the cover off your motor is the computer behind it. Pop that out and unhook the harness and put a new one it. THats all i can think of as the problem.

The cause is = there is a soldered connection that cracks and it acts like a loose or bad connection and that gives you the on, off, come on, don't work situation. I have changed several of these circuit boards which are readily available and that always fixes the problem.

    thanks guys.
yes i was told it is the circuit board on the motor.
went to autozone to get a new one, but it was different.
went to chevrolet, and theirs was different than mine also.
so the parts guy called chevrolet, and they said my type is disscontinued, and i would have to buy an entire wiper motor....
screw that, i am gonn search a junk yard today.

got one from a junk yard yesterday.
snapped it in, but the wipers still acted up.
put the original one back in, and it acted up still.
took it apart, then put back in, now it is working fine, for now.
if it starts actiing up again, i am gonna tap intot he hot wire running to the wiper motor and put a kill switch inlone. then when i go to turn them on, and thye wont shut off, i will hit the toggle switch and stop them that way.
i aint gonna put a new wiper motor and find out it might be something in my wiper/blinker switch..
