    Default Tire Selection [Expired Topic]

Any body have a recommendation for good general use occasional mud tires? and by occasional mud I mean getting around a construction site after the rain, not finding an 3 foot puddle and trying to fly over the top of it. 80% of the use will be on road and frequently pulling a trailer.

The tires I have now are fine for that but everytime I get in any mud at all I get stuck.

What are you using now? I've heard a lot of good things about Geolanders. Never used them myself though.

You want to swap tires when you need to mud-bog? or full time drivers that can handle mud?

I still have to check and see what's on there, they were some hand me downs from a buddy that got 20's. These need to be full time "multi purpose" tires.

How much money do you want to spend on them?

goodyear wild country tires with a good lug pattern have served me well on my 86 2 wheel drive burb for years never gotten stuck on any job site, and i've been working construction for years. the 94 i have has allseason tires on it and we can't even get it up the driveway when it snowed last winter. so we are upgradeing this year to four wild countrys for the 94, only because its 4 wheel drive and those other tires suck in the snow in 2 wheel drive. and they have to be the same on all 4 wheels right?

Yes they need to be the same, I currently have Good Year Wranglers and am not happy with them in any type of limited traction.

I had wrangler RTS's, and was not impressed one bit. I did a lot of research at Tirerack.com, and found the khumos. Nice tire, but I got the passenger tire by mistake. It holds the weight of the truck, and then some, but it's a soft sidewall, so it looks like it's going flat all the time. otherwise great traction, smooth quiet ride. far superior to the wranglers, and less expensive.

The only luck with Goodyears that I had was on performance cars, like a camaro. I had some Goodyear Eagles that gripped like you wouldn't believe, of course I paid through the nose for them too.
