    Exclamation Specialty tool help!

I went to the dealership yesterday and purchased all of the parts necessary to replace all of my door pins and bushings, I have the two front doors and a rear ext. cab door. I bought the spring compressor tool that works for the front doors, it is on the left hand side of this picture. They only had enough parts to do one door, so I have the other parts on order. Hopefully only a couple of more days.

Now this picture shows the tool I need for the rear door spring, you can't use the other tool for this because it won't fit. I have already been to body shops, all of the major auto parts store including Napa! I went to the dealer first for the tool, and they are no longer allowed to sell tools to the public. I tried 4 different dealerships too, Chevrolet/GMC, Buick, Cadillac/Hummer and I even tryed a chevy body shop. Does anybody know where I can find this tool, I could rig something up I know that but this spring is under a lot of pressure and I don't want to hurt myself or have damage done to the truck. Any thoughts????

    OMG! OMG! OMG!

Okay now that I have had my heart attack, thank you for finding it for me Jimmie. I swear I have the worst luck ever, I knew this project would have to have a catch! The bad thing is I have to buy that tool, so even though it will cost me about $300 after it's shipped it will be worth it. I had these back bushings replaced at the dealer for $800 back in 2004, so I will bite the bullet and just get it to have. It will pay for itself after the first time anyways, it just sucks that I am going to have $40 in parts and $300 in tools for this job. Thanks again, I am just glad that I CAN actually buy that damn thing instead of having to take it to the dealership and getting robbed!

After you're done with it you may be able to sell it either here or on EBay. If you're not in a hurry you could put a wanted ad on Craig s list. There are lots of Kent Moore tools floating around since the dealerships are closing.
The sad part is your GM dealership has this tool. If you knew someone that worked there you could borrow it.

Ironically my dad is friends with a Vietnam vet up at the V.F.W., he has worked at a Chevy dealer for 25 years. I just feel guilty asking him for a favor like that, I mean he has a job to do too I guess. I don't know I will think about it, I might just have him order me one through there tool vendor and see how much that would cost. I just hate asking favors, because I have a feeling I would owe him a few hundred beers for that favor. Well at least this post will be a good wake up call for others who want to do this job, lesson #490 learned.

Thanks Darcy for that video, that is a very good video on how to do it. I do see that I should get one of those pin removal tools though, I saw them at AutoZone I think for $30. I don't want to bend the hinges that's for sure, thanks guys your spending my money faster than I can make it!
