I am getting a knock sensor code once every month. Reset the check engine light and it will stay off for about a month. Same code. I hear no knocking in the engine (5.7L). Should I change the sensor? I know where it is but want to know if the coolant needs to drained to replace it and what the torque is since that appears to be critical. Its a 1996 GMC 1500 Savana van. If anyone can help that would be great.

Try using the "Repair Manuals Online" posted in the Q&A thread. If you have troubles finding the info you need, let me know. Just make sure when you get to the repair manual for your specific vehicle, use the search feature for the words "Knock Sensor" and it should show you the detailed step-by-step replacement procedure.
