My speedometer has been acting a little weird lately. It only wants to work on cold days, when its around 60 or below. Anything much over that and it just stops working.
I just recently (about an hour ago) changed out the vehicle speed sensor on the side of my transmission (automatic) but it still doesn't want to work. I havn't had a chance to test it in cold weather, and I dout I'll be able to for a few months now.
Has anyone seen a problem like this? Any suggestions on where to go from here? Am I suposed to run the truck for a while to break in the new speed sensor?
Any help would be much appritiated!
mine sometimes doesnt work either. i just knock on it a couple of times and it starts working again. but its a aftermarket white face setup that was already on it when i bought the truck. other than knocking on it a couple of times i dunno.
I've still got the stock speedometer in mine, covered by that glass pane that covers all the other guages, so theres no way I can tap on mine.
Well the speedometer decided to work on my drive to work this morning, however it went out again when it came time to drive back for lunch. So it obviously wasn't the speed sensor.
Anyone have any thoughts on what it could be thats causing this?
Loose connection behind the instrument panel, maybe. Pull the panel and see if there is a loose wire or something.
