I had a question about the size of my engine and I wasn't really sure where to post it.
I have an 04 4.8L v8. Any idea how big the engine is? Or any idea where I could find out?
I know the 7.4L is like a 454, would the 4.8L be like a 290 or something like that?
Also, for future reference, would a crate 454 fit in an 04 silverado?
The 04' 4.8 Liter has 285 H.P. at 5200 RPM's and 295 ft lbs of torque at 4000 RPM.Here is a link,http://www.new-cars.com/2004/2004-ch...rado-1500.html

Thanks guys. That's exactly what I was looking for.![]()

A 454 would not be a direct swap into your 04 (unless you're talking about a tall deck LSX, small block 454). If you're serious about a swap to bigger and better, I'd suggest looking into a stroked 6.0L (402-408 typically) or 6.2L (414-418). With the appropriate supporting parts, you'd have gobs more torque than you do now and considerably more horsepower than you'd be able to extract easily ($$$) from a big block.
