Default FS: '83 c2500 Suburban Diesel TURBO!

Hey guys, I'm new to this board and just happened to stumble into it by virtue of the fact that I need to sell my 'burban.

    $2500/obo

    Here are the stats:
6.2 Diesel with a dealer installed Banks turbo kit
    136k-ish miles
    th400 trans (3 spd auto)
    2 wheel drive
    4:11 rear end
Blue over Silver deluxe two tone exterior
Blue bench interior (two rows only)

    The good:
This truck is in really good shape as far as the body and interior is concerned. There is practically no rust in the body at all except for the first signs in the typical spots at the bottom of the doors. The truck runs great! It doesn't seem to use a lot of oil (only about a half quart in 3k miles) and starts up just fine.

    The bad:
Unfortunately, my truck suffers from the typical 80's and 90's paint issues that seemed to plague all GM trucks built in this time period. I've got a couple of spots that the paint has begun to flake off revealing the black e-coat beneath. There are a couple of deep scratches on the roof caused by a garage door malfunction, and some other odds and ends that I can't think of right now. The biggest issue with the truck is that it needs a trans rebuild. I was on my way home from work last week, and all of a sudden, it kicked out of third gear and right back in again. It did this two or three times, then just stayed out of third for the duration of the trip home. Fortunately, with the th400, I was still able to maintain (albieit slower than traffic) highway speed until I got home. I haven't driven the truck since, and am planning to drain and fill the trans with new fluid and new filter to see if that helps the situation any, but my hopes are not too high.

So there it is... I'm in Central Ohio, and with the trans issue, obviously I'd like to sell to someone local. I'll check back here occasionally, but if you're interested, please call me at 614-475-5740, or e-mail to rseward1@progressive.com

    Thanks for looking!
    Ron

Good luck with that. Have you tried posting it on craigslist too?

I have sold and bought some stuff on Craigs list and also check it every day. I'm pretty much addicted.

Yeah, my wife is on there all the time. I got sent out on an errand to pick up an armiour the other week that she saw on craigslist. $30 for a solid oak piece, pretty good.

I am sorry for your tranny problem--wish you were closer. I have an 83 p/u with the 6.2 and same tranny. My tranny went down at around 160k I had it rebuilt and still rnning strong at 190k. My problem is that I was given a 90 3/4t 4x4 suburban with a blown engine and a 3spd tranny--I was thinking of doing a conversion to what is in your rig.

Where are you? Good news is that I've got a buddy that is a diesel mechanic, and may have a replacement tranny in his dad's garage. Gotta find out how much he wants for it, but the old 'burban could be back on the road real soon.

Well, she's still not on the road yet, but I did drive it this week. I hate to see this old rig go, but it just doesn't make sense for me to run it, even when I do get it fixed. Price dropped, $2200/obo for probably one of the most rust free Suburbans of this generation that you'll see.
