

Alright today I started on my 2001 S-10 door bushings, I had originally bought enough supplies to do all three doors but decided to start on the driver's side door. It is currently sagging 1" when fully closed, and it has started to rub the door sill real bad. I used the spring compressor tool which is recommended for this job, and it came out pretty easily. I then removed the "C" clips holding the pin in place, I used a hammer and a center punch and started to pound out the top pin. It will not budge an inch, I tried soaking it with PB Blaster and worked on it for about 4 hours to no avail. Am I missing something here, my mom thinks I am forgetting a step or something. I am thinking about just using a cut-off wheel and cutting the pin out, I have all of the new parts to go in there so I'm not worried about saving parts. Would it be bad if I cut that thing out?? Any suggestions, I am about to go insane!
I have the door supported with a floor jack and 2x4, and my mom is also there helping to keep the door from twisting or bending. I am also going tomorrow to buy a bushing installer, I was told those things can be easily broke when installing. I really need help because currently my door is hanging open, so I hope nobody steals my truck out in the driveway.![]()
There might be one of those press-on spring clips on the bottom of the pin. Any chance you could take a pic and post it?

I should have taken a picture of the damn thing I know, I was just so frustrated with the whole situation I had to leave it go for the evening. Actually these are the original parts from when it was new, so they are nice and worn and rusted in there. They are in such bad shape both bushings broke and fell out some time ago, and I removed two little circular press on rings that were on the pin. I can't see anything else holding it on, I have a feeling there is supposed to be something in between the two door hinges and there isn't! It is metal on metal now, I will take some pictures tomorrow and post them up.
If it's just rusted in, time for some heat. Although by morning the PB might have done the trick. Heat up the pin, and spray the PB in around the hole. It should draw the PB down in, and the expansion and cooling should loosen some of the corrosion. Try it with the hammer. If it still doesn't move, try heating the hinge without heating the pin. The expansion might be enough to loosen it.

Alright that sounds like it might work, because they are REALLY stuck in there good. I just thought it was funny they were stuck, considering there is no bushing left in there to hold it in either. Maybe I'll get lucky like you said and the PB Blaster might have worked, I think I used about 1/2 can of that stuff on that door alone!
check and make shure your hittin it out the right way they make a tool that works well for them stubborn bushing http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SKG-21825/ http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MDS-SS21835/ makes it a 5 min job to pull pins and bushings out instead of using a punch and a little heat never hurt


Well I live within 30 miles of Summit Racing, I could go check that tool out today since I am going to pick up a bushing installer also today. The top pin I am hitting from the top, and the bottom pin I am hitting from the bottom. They are reversed with the mushroom head on the opposite side I am hitting, I will be working on it today so I will let you know how it goes AGAIN!![]()


Well here's another one for you, I also live within 35 miles of Stylin Concepts. I am always at Summit Racing for all of the car shows, and yes I do spend a ton of money at both places. I definately am fortunate to be so close to both, I haven't had to have anything shipped in probably 8 years.
X2 on heating the hinge. Heat it fast and punch the pin out before the heat transfers to the pin.
