Speed Sensors and Hub Bearings

Just wanted to see if anyone else has had problems with their speed sensors and their hub bearings on their silverados.

I just took my truck to the shop last week cuz it was stopping like an ABS stop but no lights were on, so the dealership looked at it and came back to me with an $1100 bill (which thank god the warranty covered it) and told me that the speed sensors were bad and the only way to replace them was to replace the whole hub bearing... Im not sure where they are or what they do..

Can anyone explain??

the front wheel bearings on our trucks are a sealed unit non serviceable with the wheel speed sensors built in, they do exactly what they are called they measure wheel speed
