I want to change the fuel filter on my 04 2500HD w/6.0 Vortec.
This may sound very basic, but I don't know the correct answer.
Since I don't have anything to bleed the pressure off, could I be causing any problems changing it without the bleeding tools?
i never bleed it just crack it open and let it spit, or you can take the gas cap off to release the pressure in the tank

That's what I was planning to do. Thanks.
I need to double-check but I'm about positive the filter's on the frame.
check the frame but I think its in the tank, and then would usually be a screen more than a filter (I kind of remember checking it once before). I could be confusing it with my altima since I know that is where it is on that car.

On my wife's 04 Tahoe I had to buy a tool to get it off. It takes a special tool to get it off and I cant remember the name of it. Just in case you didnt know.

On my 2002 and my dads 2000, it's attached to the frame with a clamp, in front of the gas tank, towards the driver. All i did, was open it up all the way, and let it all spill out. Oh and a little advise, when you're under your truck, go to the side of your filter, not directly underneath it. I ALMOST made that mistake. Haha

Starting with Model year 2004's,there is no Fuel filter. It has been this way Since the introduction of the high pressure returnless fuel system.
Here is a Good article about the Fuel Filters,
