I'm not sure if this is the right spot to post but here goes.I'm sure a lot of you have had bad experiences at used/new car dealerships. Not saying all salesman are sneaky, but they are there to make the most money they can off you.If they can get you to pay $1,000.00 more for a vehicle, they will....period.THEY ARE THERE TO MAKE MONEY.NOT BE YOUR ADVOCATE!
A friend of mine(not me) from Vegas loves to go to dealerships when he is bored to mess with the salesman. He goes in with a specific vehicle in mind.He then gets the salesman to go on a test drive.(15-30 min)Once the salesman starts his pitch,my friend stops him and tells him he would like to put 11 grand cash down and finance the rest.My friend asks the salesman what kind of deal they can work out.The salesman runs to the manager or whoever and comes back with a price. My friend will then ask what kind of price if he puts 15 grand down. The salesman will run back and forth a couple more times doing this before my friend says he is going to another dealership.i
I know this really childish and I have told him he is sick for doing it,but every time I think about it I get a good laugh.

Tell your 'friend' to be careful. IRS has been running stings around here on used car dealerships that take large 'cash' payments and dont report them on the proper forms. Law requires any cash over 5k to be filed with the IRS. They have busted a few local dealers and are using them to lure in these buyers. I know your 'friend' is doing this for fun, but wouldn want him to get in trouble over a joke gone bad...08 Colorado Z71

agreed. but do you want to be explaining that it was just a joke to law enforcement; and that you really had no intention to buy the car and you dont really have the cash? im sure they would check it out and there would be no harm done..but after hours of "splainin"

I forgot to mention that this guy doesn't even have a car.He takes the bus around vegas. He doesn't want a car.He is happy taking the bus everywhere, except for the strip(bus takes forever to go from one end to the other)He has a drivers license for work.(casino security).BTW some people in Vegas DO put a good amount of cash down on vehicles.I'm not sure if the dealerships have to do the same thing the casinos do ie; a CTR(cash transaction report) to the irs for anything over 10 grand cash. The casinos do one for a transaction over 3 grand SAR(suspicious activity report) that gets sent to homeland security.
