Red face '09 Silverado Z71 fog lights components

Just bought a new '09 Silverado Z71. Looked over the truck pretty thoroughly; however, after dealing with all the b.s. involved with talking to salesman, etc overlooked the fact that the truck was missing fog lights, until I had gotten the truck home. Been looking into what it would take to convert the front bumper into one which would accept fog lamps. Anyone out there have a set of silver birch colored bumper end caps with fog lamps already attached they are looking to sell, or possibly know of a site that deals in factory takeoffs, etc?

Are you going to do this with OEM Chevy parts or aftermarket. There is a switch on the dash board for the fog lites near the headlite switch. Do you have this switch? Also check at the Under Hood Fuse Panel for the Fog Lite relay and fuse. You have to check to see if the wires are there to hook the fog lites to in the bumper. Sometimes the wiring harness will be there even if they don't install the fog lites in the assembly line during the truck build. I got the Fog Lites on my on as part of the Exterior Package. I didn't ask for it, but it came with the truck. I really only wanted the Power Package Plus which has the 5.3 and the 6L80 six speed transmission. Got the truck for $9,700.00 under MSRP the Mem Day weekend before GM declard bankruptcy.

GM sells the fog lights as an accessory kit which includes the lights, new bumper corners, a new headlight switch and the wiring harness. The bumper corner are prepainted to match your color or are available in chrome. The kit are available on www.gmpartsclub.com.

It took me about 4 hrs to install as you have to remove the grille and front bumper to replace the end caps. There is no programming required, and it even lights the fog lamp light on the dash.

Of course you can always have it installed by the dealer.

    Good Luck!!
