    Default dropping engine pan

    is this the whole pan..pic... anything you need to know about replacing pan gasket
    for a first timer..?? how many bolts..?? its hard to see the whole arrangement..
    its just the waffle .yes??

    I do know you need to drain the oil...
    But I think you have to remove the filter too because it is integrated into the oil pan...

    i am assuming you have 91 model? as it was a iffing nightmare on my 2000 one. i swear to gods of cars - frigging nightmare to remove oil pan. 3 attempts, total pain every time.

    If you have a GenIII LS series engine GM has an elaberate installation method. There are two bolts at the front that pass through the timing cover and two at the rear that pass through the bellhousing. The crossmember has to come off too. The gasket is riveted on so if it isn't damaged reuse it. When installing the pan make SURE the front face of the pan is flush with the block. Put a dab of RTV at the pan/block/timng set cover junction before installing the timing cover.

    mine is 2001 V6 what would it cost me at the shop for just replace pan gasket???????????
