    Default cold air intake

    this maybe a stupid question but what is a cold air intake and what does it do?

    2004 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
    6.0L Vortec
    Magnaflow 4" Dual Exhaust
    Leveling Kit
    Westin step bars
    Penda Skid Resistor bed liner
    dark blue metallic
    Bak Industries plastic bed rail caps
    Alpine 6 1/2" SPS-600 in front

    It cools off the air going into your engine and lets more air to go into your engine allowing it to breathe and create more horsepower and some extra mpgs, also better throttle response

    replaces the stock restricted air box, usually with an open air element and better flowing pipes to the intake

    to make it a true ram air you can buy an hose that attaches to the hole on the filter and run it down inside you fender to the front of the vehicle this way it sucks the cold air from outside, my opinion on just installing the cold air intake with out the second hose is that it's just sucking hot air from your engine and then it doesnt do anyhting really besides making your vehicle sound a little better.
