Default How do I shut of My Daytime Running lights if not Driving? [Expired Topic]

Hello: I am new to this Fourm, and bought my 1998 Suburban
in January with 159,000 miles on it, I know its a lot of miles, but
even with the rebuilt rear end, it was in my Price range. I have had a
few minor problems, nothing you wouldn't find with anything else, Steering sensor, blower motor, windsheild wiper module. power steering pump, thats about all.

What I wrote in about was this...is there a way to shut the daytime
running lights off while the engine is still running, for example a by pass
or something. We were trying to watch the Fireworks on the 4th and
as some of you may know the Mosquitos around the Lakes in Mn
are obnoxious as heck!!!! but I was unable to shut off the Daytime
Running lights, which on the 1998 are also the the low beam head lights,
is there a way to bypass to keep either the air or heat going without lights
    on?

Push in your emergency brake pedal and the lights will go off. I do this when driving to a deer stand early in the morning. If you push it in just one click, it will turn off the lights and not set the brake.

Very Clever... that is a good tidbit to hang onto for future reference. Thanks Gary.

Good to see another Minnesotan joining the ranks, I know there are suburban drivers here. There are at least 20 of the big dogs in my office parking lot every day.

Gary L. Thank you very much, that will be a useful little piece of information.
I like having the driving lights on, just once in a while would prefer
to be able to shut them off, to keep from blinding others.

MN Burban I never knew there were so many Subs out there, until I got
Mine. But man are they a magnet for Door dings......ARUUUUUGHHH!

Thank you both for replying I appriecate the Info.

For anyone with the 2000 and newer Suburbans, to turn off the daytime running lights, you push the dome overide button on and off about four times. Just an FYI.

On my 06, the DRL turn off when I shift to park. No emergency brake needed.
