I have a 1998 Chevy S-10 2.2L. There is this noise which I believe to be lifter noise. Just on just about every 2.2L S-10 out there I seem to hear the same thing does any body know what this is? Can it be fixed? Sorry I can't describe it.

Can you try to describe it? Is it a ticking noise, is it a knock, does it change with engine rpm? Need more info!

I have the same noise I think. My 2.2 only does it mostly at Idle and I feel as though it is a knock. RPM related but in the higher RPMs cant hear it as much over the damn Clutch fan noise.

I found a website on common 2.2 problems that states the noise I am hearing is worn/ noisy timing gears in the fron of the motor. http://repairpal.com/cars/chevrolet/s10 has the info
