Tail gaite handle?

I was wondering if I could swap out my tail gate handle for one with a lock in it for my 2005 duramax? If anyone knows that I can, would it be a difficult thing to do or just a few screws or something?

I think the dealer can order the replacement part. It is on the GM accessories website so I'm pretty sure you can.

heres a link for what your lokking for I just googled chevy silverado locking tailgate, this was the first link that came up.. if its kinda of what your looking for you may want to google it again to see if there are better prices on another link or different types. I havent put a locking one on my truck but the chrome tailgate latch i put on my truck had only required three bolts to be removed it took just a few minutes to chnge from the stock one.let us know what you come up with http://www.msperformanceonline.com/pl1100.htmlr Okay I give up I cant get the link to take you straight to the tailgate lock but just do like I said google it and you get alot of results that you can choose from

Theres a aftermarket company called Pop-N-Lock that make a easy to install replacement handle that locks and looks factory. I think they make them for GM parts also.

all the 99-06 and 07 classic tailgates are the same, as long as their the fleet side bed

Thanks guys! I think I am going to go with the manual Pop n Lock. I am planning a trip into the mountains for about a week in December and I need to be able to lock the tail gate. I am planning on getting a removable tonneau cover ( don't know what kind yet) but I want to keep all my stuff safe and dry.
