So, it finally hit me that since I can find just about anything on Ebay, I'd sure like to have some service manuals for my vehicles.
Found a manual for the '96 Windstar as well as a manual for the '99 Suburban, both on CDs and from seperate vendors.
I got them in and discovered that on my home machine (XPhomeSP2)- you can't run them! I get some weird errors.
I tried using the compatibility mode, and no matter how that was set, it just didn't work.
On a whilm I grabbed an old Win95 laptop and tried using them - no problem at all. They both install and work great.
My questions are - has anyone else here run into that, and if so, did you find a solution (and what was it)?
Thanks all!

A friend gave me a cd with the manuals for the 99 trucks. It's all in pdf format, so it works fine for me using adobe reader.

I had the same problem. solved it by a purchase of a paper back manual. I wasted too much time on the cd and did'nt want my computer in my garage every time I need a reference.

Completely agree, besides I'm old school.Originally Posted by curtolson

Well, to answer your question, there really isn't any reason that the CD runs on an old Win95 machine and not on a WinXP machine. Maybe the autorun didn't fire up or it was a really old version of a PDF or something.
I never thought about CDs before a couple of years ago. I still like the book myself too and I'm a technogeek.
