Does anybody out there, know of a place that makes a Suburban Tailgate skin replacement.??? I gave up on changing to barn doors, so I'm just going to re-skin it. If possible. Also, how hard is it to change the electric window inards in the tailgate. My window innards let the window slip off and go up at a 45 degree angle. Then just as I'm about to grab the window, it slips and slides..no slams back down. How that window didn't break, I don't know. Thank you in advance for any help.

I'm not aware of anyone that sells a skin for that. What's your issue overall, rust?

It is rusted out where the trim strip was. There are a few dents and loads of dings. Were the mechanisms for the electric rear window junk.?? My junk yard guy said that the mechanisms were not up to par. That all the Subs mechanisms he had were all failing. He had a nice tailgate, but the inards were bad.....Does anyone make new mechanisms, or rebuild kits for the rear window mechanisms??????

I'm not aware, I'll ask around, someone should know.

Thank you Steve,
This rear window mechanism is really getting to me...Who engineered this piece of....work...????? Obviously someone who should have worked on it BEFORE it was sent out the door...... I'm new to this tailgate thing. How do I adjust the level of the tailgate.?? It sits about 1/2 an inch lower on the drivers side than the passenger.

yeah, for all the overall toughness of the vehicle as a whole over time. One would think that a better rear-window unit would have been created earlier.
At least it's not a chrysler unit.

I'm trying to think if I ever had any problems with mine or not. I think we found a junk yard unit in the 90's and I haven't complained of anything since then.
