    Default Clogged Catalytic Converter

I noticed a gradual loss of power over the last two months. I had a completely clogged cat converter and my mechanic knocked metal shavings out of it.

Could the increased back pressure have damaged the pistons, piston rings, or cylinder walls?

When I say completely clogged...I mean COMPLETELY "No Air At All" Clogged.

    Thanks!

The good news is this 'usually' causes no damage. To be sure perform a compression check. If there is any damage it will be from raw fuel washing the cylinder walls and causing premature ring wear.

I had this happen on my old '97 Suburban at 150,000 miles, I sold it to a friend I work with at 205,000 and it has 223,000 on it now, so I think you'll be O.K.
