Default 2002 Tahoe w/ low idle

I looked through the forums but did not see my problem addressed so here it is. My Tahoe runs fine except for every once and a while it will have a really low idle, and it will not die or run rough, just low at about 250-300 rpm. Two days ago when it happened I shut the truck off, restarted it and it went away and back up to the usual 500 or so rpm. My truck has the 5.3 w/ an AEM intake, 115K, already replaced plugs, wires and fuel filter. I had a dealer check my fuel pump pressure which they advised was right where it needed to be. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks...Myles

    Cool 2002 Tahoe w/low idle

Try cleaning the MAF sensor with CRC MAF cleaner. Dont use use throttlebody or carb cleaner. They will damage the MAF sensor.

Pull the vaccuum hose off your fuel pressure regulator, if there is gas in the hose, your pressure regulator is bad. Common problem for low idle, longer cranking time to start.

Hi, I finally got around to this issue too...I am sure my better half appreciates that...and I cleaned the MAF sensor, and the throttle body while I was there, with CRC MAF cleaner and it seems to run much better now with consistent starts and consistent idle where it used to be. I think I will still check the fuel pressure regulator this weekend just to be on the safe side though, Thanks for the tips. Myles
