My brothers silverado has this weird ac problem. Ocasionaly it stops blowing cold. Usually it happens when he stops at a light. after a while it starts back up again. he took it in for service and they recharged the freon but it still does it. any ideas? thanks in advance for any info.
Maybe the high pressure switch has a bad connection. This is what happened on my old lady's car. I took it to the shop thinking it was gonna be a compressor or something really expensive. Then I thought is was gonna be there like two days. Well I dropped it off and 30 minutes later the mechanic called me and told me it was fixed. I freaked out with the no ways and stuff like that. Heck he only charged me 25 bucks to fix it. Even charged the freon. That thing spits ice out at you now. I am not kidding you could keep penguins in the back seat. Good luck my shop teacher always told me Keep it simple stupid. BY no means am I calling you stupid it just means to look at the easy stuff first. For real good luck.

have a similar problem...
compressor will not kick on unless at a certain rpm...
checked freon and cycling switch...
next was going to be low pressure cut-off switch because most everything fails to the safe side, so my thoughts are that if the low pressure cut-off switch was bad that it would require more pressure to kick on the compressor, thus the higher rpm's...
changed a few things in the tune recently in regards to idle
and it seems to be working now...
gonna hold on to the LPCOS a little while before returning it though...
also...I used to have a problem with the blend door actuator causing a similar issue, but it was usually after switching over from a cold a/c setting to a warm defrost setting and then back to a/c...the blend door would not change back and it would blow warm...usually until I stopped, shut off the truck and restarted
