So I purchased a '94 Silverado and turned it on for the first time and was rather disappointed. Probably because I traded a bit of a junker of '68 Chevy that had glasspacks running straight from the headers. It sounded GREAT but ran like crap so I got rid of it. Anyways, I'm looking to purchase and install a new exhaust system on my '94 Silverado. It has a single-exhaust system now but I want to turn it into a dual-exhaust system and some deep street tones, not really worried about performance boosts though. Any suggestions regarding brand, type, etc of exhaust systems? Thanks in advance.

I would use flowmaster super 44. They are supposed to be the loudest most aggressive muffler they make. I have 40's and they are loud and the the super 44 is supposed to be louder. I would consider that!!

flowmaster super 40

Had magnaflow, it fotted in under three years and had alot of highway drone, so i replaced it with a Flo-Pro and waaaaaay happier, no drone, more aggressive tone and i could feel a tad more power, and it was half the price of the muffler of the magnaflow

Is all that's necessary is to replace the muffler? Do I need to worry about getting new pipes or anything like that?
Whatever kind of muffler you get, if you want to go to true duals you have to replace from manifold back. I would go with 2.5 or 3 inch pipe!! The bigger the pipe gives a deeper more aggressive tone.

i have had the flowmaster 40's before, and really liked them, but now i have a flowmaster 80, and i think it is louder. there is a noticeable difference between the 2. in cab sound dramatically changes depending on where the end of you exhaust is. straight out the back, it wont be too bad. at a 45, will be a little louder, 90 out the side will be even louder, and dumped out below the bed will be the loudest. also, how big or small your pipe size is will be a determining factor

Sure glad to see I am not the only one in this type situation.
Hello, I am new to this forum. Just bought my '94 Silverado a few months ago.
The motor in it was a turd. So we pilled out the stock 5.7L short block, and put in a refreshed 350sb.
Since the trucks Heads and Exhaust Manifolds were all cracked, had to replace that stuff as well.
Now... I want a true Dual Exhaust, no Cat's or Y's.
I bought a set of FlowTech Shorty Headers, and now want to setup a muffler for each side, and then out the rear.
Sounds like the Flowmaster 44's are just what I need.
Has anyone else pitched the Cat's? Any issues with the EGR or O2 Sensors raising heck with the body computer?
Thanks for viewing.
